What the organisation contributed

W3C and IETF Develop and publish Web architecture, URI, HTTP and related standards. The IETF’s 2000 model made two enduring distinctions. IETF, IAB and RFC process IETF, IAB and RFC process shapes participation, standards, resource allocation, visibility and enforcement.

Why it mattered

Makes independently hosted information globally addressable, linkable, retrievable and publishable through interoperable clients and servers.
