Thanks Crimson. I thought I had to delve a bit deeper than Cricinfo ... :D

Now it's your turn again as the mastermind of this thread.

As an even more outlandish and implausible connection I was about to suggest that Traicos (with roots in the Greek islands) and Guy Whittall (with his family roots in Smyrna) are the only Zimbabwe players whose ancestors once lived under Ottoman rule -- but then I remembered Guy's brother Andrew which turns this "group" into a trio 😂

I think that's me done for today ...

😂 😂 😂

I should of course add that Andrew and Guy are cousins, not brothers.

Just to add a clue:

Traicos was alone in this group till last year.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
OK, an update to the clue. Traicos got company because of something that changed last year. Else, he would still be alone in this "group". If this change that happened last year had happened earlier, he could very well have got company a few years back and the group size would have been larger than 2.

Is the other player a Zimbabwean?

Is Gregory Strydom the answer?

Like Traicos he was born outside Zimbabwe, but would represent Zimbabwe and another country not of his birth (Cayman Islands) in international cricket. Traicos of course being born in Egypt but representing Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Perfect! Gregory Strydom was the man I was looking for. Playing the highest level of cricket for more than a country. Strydom joined this group by playing T20Is for Cayman Islands last year, and ICC changed the rules to make all T20s between all its members as internationals last year. Had they done it in 2017, Even Watambwa might have joined this club.

Sure looks familiar, but can't place him right now. An easy way to find out whether someone has featured in the quiz before is the little box at the top "Search this topic" :)

Matthew Townsend?

I think repeats are fine, as long as questions are of different kinds altogether, like this one...

Correct CA well done

I came across KPR Went when I was looking for Paxton Chatora the other day; his name stood out too me.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
I could recognize him easily because I had spent a lot of time on his Cricinfo page when I created that old question at 290. But looks like now Cricinfo does not carry his profile picture anymore. Not sure why. So, had to search and get it confirmed that it is indeed him.

So, adding a point to myself :)

592. This could get tough, but just wanted to put it out here. I'll promise to find easier ones for a while after this... :) How can you connect these images to cricket in Zimbabwe?

Something to do with Martin or Dale Benkenstein? I have a reason for this answer but don't want to divulge it in case it gives away the answer to someone else.

No, but I'd be very interested to know what the connection you could think of was.

The answer to this question could be more direct than what you could be thinking of :)

The second photo is called In Dovedale which got me thinking about Dale Benkenstein who was of course born in Harare. Clearly I am not on the right path here.

The first photo has hay bales in it. Something to do with cricket bails?

You were correct right at the beginning of this reply, and it progressively got less convincing :)

As I said, from there, the answer is more direct!
