ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

Such terrible news.

What is striking is the number of tributes being posted from around the world including by so many very high profile current and former cricketers. Very few Zimbabwean cricketers have ever had such reach and legacy.

At the time of writing, absolutely nothing from ZC. Presumably they are still nursing their hangovers after their big p**s-up in Bulawayo following the board 'elections' yesterday evening.

From BBC Sport:

In a statement, Zimbabwe Cricket said: "Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of former captain Heath Streak. His contributions to cricket will always be remembered, and he will be dearly missed. Rest in peace."
An umpire who officiated Streak's ODI debut, Piloo Reporter, has also died on the same day.

Thats hypocrisy at its finest.

Anyone know why Blessing cut short his T20, citing personal reasons?

A nice tribute from the South African commentary team. Pommie had it right and said it well

ZC with a nice statement. Thankfully they managed to avoid mentioning you know what.

Yeah, what a strange co-incidence.

Yeah why would anyone oppose Fauci, he has never been wrong about anything.

What was he wrong about?

Ive literally got a video of Fauci saying that taking the vaccine will stop people from getting covid.

I also saw him tell Trevor Noah he was 100% certain the virus will be stopped when vaccine came out.

I bet you know this but you like 'trolling the right' at the expense of fact.

Fauci dishonestly sought to discredit the Wuhan lab-leak theory. He knew the Wuhan lab was researching coronaviruses yet dismissed the lab leak theory as nothing more than a conspiracy.

Scientists don't claim to be infallible. They simply follow the most recent evidence. That applies to whether washing your hands prevents food borne illnesses, wearing masks reduces spread of air borne pathogens, or vaccines reduce the likelihood of disease. Galileo is credited with that seismic shift, but it was less famously employed by many before. For example Copernicus wasn't born believing that the Earth orbits the Sun...he believed the same thing everyone else did, but based on observation he CHANGED his views later. It doesn't mean that he was dishonestly trying to discredit the Pope or the Church or anything.

Similarly do you (or anyone else) on this forum know the difference betwen Newtonian mechanics and Quantum and Relativistic Mechanics? I would not be surprised if ZCF members would suggest that physics is bullshit because all of a sudden the laws of mechanics changed. The laws didn't change...our depth of understanding changed, and although Newtons laws of physics are now known to be incorrect (vis a vis Einstein's and Heisenburg's)...it is still taught at every university up to and including Harvard and Princeton. Why you might ask? Because for everyday scenarios, Newton's laws come to out be 99.999999% accurate and work just fine. Einstein's are 100% accurate by the way...or at least what we currently understand to be 100% accurate.

Except Fauci wasn't following the evidence, he was trying to suppress it.

Look if you don’t have a background in STEM you can’t tell what the evidence says. So how would you know he was trying to suppress evidence? Do you know what a chi squared analysis is? Do you know about T tests?

Your side doesn’t have evidence because your side doesn’t believe in science or observational empiricism. You don’t believe a barrier blocks particles, right? Therefore, you must not believe that condoms work to reduce disease transmission or pregnancy rates, right?

Just as an example, following conventional scientific understandings, no one could have predicted the possibility of nuclear bombs. But when the discovery was made that fission and fusion could result in minuscule “losses” in mass it became apparent that mass was being converted to energy. Before that, and in common sense, if you started with 1 kg og material, you would end with 1kg as well.

Scientists rarely speak in absolute terms. Every heard of confidence intervals? Look it up.

Speaking in absolute terms is the realm of religion or politics. Scientists have to be very mindful of that because of peer review and subsequent research.

Eugene please note:

US government officially believes that the virus was not engineered in a lab nor that Chinese government knew about it before the initial Wuhan outbreak. This is official stance lf the government and if there is classified evidence to the contrary, you wouldn’t be privy to it to know.

At best there were two agencies that said there was insufficient evidence either way.

So no, Fauci was not suppressing any evidence he was suppressing what is to date still just a conspiracy theory. Now that theory might eventually come to be proven correct, but at the current moment the evidence doesn’t exist.

Morale of the story eat more fruits and veggies, reduce alcohol and red meat if not abstain completely, keep weight down, and washing hands is good for hygiene.

The Russian government officially believes Ukraine is governed by Nazis. What's your point?
